A merchant cargo ship registered in Singapore named ‘Bitumen Glory’ 100 metres long and 15 metres wide, was reported by Singapore authorities to the Thai Royal Navy Third Fleet in Phuket as having a fire on board. The ship was on a bearing of 209 degrees, 60 nautical miles from Phuket. All 19 crew who had to float in the sea for a while had been picked up by a Romanian registered ship named ‘Valeria’. This ship is now heading for either Penang or Singapore. According to its registration it was built in 1985, 22 years ago, but it is not known yet what the ship was carrying. The ship was reported to have had at least 2 previous accidents off the Japanese coast in 2003 & 2006.
