Thanks Bushdoctor and I was not trying to belittle your question on the cost of living out here , its just that it is quite a difficult one to answer with lots of variables from month to month and I guess from country to country!
Broadbrush answer would be that it is cheaper to live here for day to day items such as your shopping, entertainment, petrol etc. If I had a month where I may have to head out of the country for compassionate reasons or there was a medical emergency then it is going to get exponentially more expensive.
We all have different lifestyles. Some may have an expensive hobby they enjoy. Run an expensive car, eat in the finest restaurants everynight with an imported bottle of expensive wine! You may just like to relax by the pool all day, read a book, sunbathe, go for walks, make your own meals etc etc...........All relative, one is going to eat into your money, the other you may even be able to save a little at the end of the month.
Anyway, thanks again for your post, yes, after three years in Iraq this place is paradise. Like I mentioned before, if you have any 'specific' costs then I will try to help on those as best I can.
