I will take the machine into the office and get the guys to do the encoding for me.

A DVD to WMV (with 5.1 surround) takes about 50 minutes on my machine and is an automated process (apart from choosing PAL/NTSC), I'm guessing a HD-DVD will take 4-5 hours minimum.

Can you convert the TS files into WMV, I've looked into it and can never find any answers - from what I know they are MPEG2 of a sort.

There is a raging debat about quality loss. TS generally is either MPEG-2 or h.264. Of course hd-dvd vc-1 is a closer cousin of wmv. On the how-to's take a look at Doom9 forums. One reason people are dong the convert is so the can remux in a standard DD 5.1 soundtrack. but ya hd-dvd -> wmv is a different beast and the tools aren't really there yet.

PM me if you want a few good sites that track this. They are private membership sites. You may already be a member.

Are you actually sourcing hd-dvd discs locally or are you finding them from "other sources"?
