A System Announcement/Status area idea

Gentlemen,
It's not clear to me where or how to post core system software issues.
I am aware that the board has search capabilities and I learned how to use them. I also understand that one needs to use it first before posting a missive. However, I have found that the search engine can be most time consuming.

Recently, I’ve spent a while trying to narrow down a search on the issue of signatures not showing up after posting. My signature does not, in fact, show up after posting and I’ve found via the search engine that the next core software upgrade might fix the issue.

However, I don’t feel too secure with that answer because of the fact that it was posted last year, I had to really dig for the answer (which means I might not be using the search engine correctly) and, to my knowledge, I have no means of monitoring the upgrade status/schedule of said software upgrade.

A System Announcement/Status area might be a good idea for these forums. The area could post perminate FAQ’s on the topics of forum software tips, core software upgrade and downtime schedules, banning laws, new user info, etc.
I’d think of this area as a central repository for question and answers. This might enable the moderators to quickly gage board issues as well.
