Its a pretty decent Frequent flyer programme, loads of partner airlines to get miles on. I think it is only 10k miles to get silver card. UK BKK and back. 50k for gold. They give you a free round trip upgrade when you qualify for that. I try to save mine for a UK Australia trip. You get more luggage etc etc A really great thing with TG gold card is a gauranteed seat even when the flight is full over booked closed, if you book 3 days before and your ticket is M class or higher.
If you had not already joined I would have suggested you joined BMI frequent flyer programme only 30 K miles for Gold, but you can use it on Star Allaince airlines like Thai. same benefits more or less but less miles.
But if you can make the 50k miles in a year Jan - December or 80 k over 2 years Thai card is better.
On Thai when they are upgrading in Thailand usually they will not give you an upgrade if you are wearing Jeans. I know this for a fact I used to have a GF who works for TG in the Lounge.
