In a word....NO, Johnny. Right now it's not the sort of place you'd go looking for a "takeaway"

More like somewhere to take your latest conquest to impressher.
It's only been open a few days. I went last night from 11.30 to 1am. About 20 customers in when I arrived, mainly farangs, a few with TGs they'd brought with them. Couple of very nicely madeup Thai ladies sat at the bar drinking cocktails. All 3 pool tables in play. 3 waitresses doing table service and available as poolplaying partners. 3 behind the bar. The 5-piece band were on stage. Think they are American. Played reggaeish/middleoftheroad stuff...none of that garage/house/gardenshed music that does my head in. They are bl##dy excellent and deserve to play to far bigger audiences. They had a break at 12 and were back on at 12.30.
Area is about the same as Taipan, maybe slightly smaller. It's done out very nicley, sort of wine bar-ryish. Lots of wood/wood effect, parque floor. Plenty of space, not too many tables/stools.
Played pool....20baht/game....so cheaper than the Bangla tables and tables/cues obviously new. Nice to be able to play without the cue banging into walls/columns/tables/people!
Chang/Tiger 100baht...Heineken 120...JD and Coke 120 (which is cheaper than some Bangla bars)...LadyDrink 120.
Didn't notice if the airconditioning went off at midnight...it may well have done but when I left at 1am it wasn't uncomfortable at all. Band were still on stage but customers were down to about 6.
Biggest problem it will have is LOCATION. If the Irish Bar does open and if there were one or two more similar in the area that would help. If it were down the other end of Jungceylon opposite the Boxing stadium it would do really well. Also they really need to get signs up out side.
I'll definitely be a regular there. It's open till 2am.
