Thanks for your reply. I am not 100% sure what exactly it is but it something to do with doc type definition. In other words the browser doesn't recognize the type of doc that its trying to read.
I think I may have it sorted. There was an error in the header includes template that was pointing the browser to RSS when in fact it should have been RSS2. Now IE7 can read too.
