Just started work here again, 5th job in Thailand.

Previously I had always been informed that so long as you have applied for your work permit you would be OK.
However, this time, when I started the HR dept. took me down to the local immigration dept. and applied for an "emergency 15 day work permit" which was issued on the spot against a tourist visa. Then did a trip to Singapore for the 'non-immigrant B' when this emergency permit expired. On return the company again got a 15 day emergency work permit to cover me while the application goes through. It seems I will keep renewing 15 day permits until then.
Thai Embassy in Singapore told me that every Non-immigrant B is issued for 3 month period and this is extended dependant on the length of your work permit. I'm not sure if the real permit will be through before this 3 month visa expires and I have to do another visa trip to Singapore.
