The source for these rumours have been wrong before so I doubt this will happen. The rumour said you could only extend for 7-14 days. I think there is a misunderstanding somewhere, 30 days tourist visa may only be extended be one week whilst 60 days tourist visas may be extendable by 30 days.
I am also interested to hear if there is any changes to this and hopefully we will receive reports soon. This may also depend on WHERE you extend your visa.
