Sawasdee runs a chain of budget hotels, they also have the Woraburi on Nana, which is more upscale and so is their hotel in Phuket. But mostly they have budget places, which are usually pretty decent. I stayed at one in Pattaya. Cheap and cheerful, I was quite happy with it and would stay there again. The only criticism I could make(other than could use a new coat of paint, TVs so-so, and sometimes a toilet will leak a little, none of which bothers me) is that if you are only there for one or two nights, the staff might seem a bit brusque, but once they've seen you a few times, then they are actually very nice. All in all it was quite nice for a budget price(nice pool, nice lobby, good elevators, nice restaurant, good view.
In BKK, I usually stay at the Honey Hotel on Soi 19. The staff is absolutley top-notch. Nice enough pool, too. The rooms are not large, and some need paint/wallpaper, but they put in new carpet which is very nice. It is about $30 per night, but they are usually booked up in advance.
I've also stayed at the Federal on Soi 11. Good staff, well run. Small rooms. May cost a little more than the Honey, hvaen't stayed there in a while, so can't say for sure. Very nice pool. The other places I've stayed in BKK aren't worth mentioning, except for one nice place on Soi 11, which I forget the name of.
