Could someone tell me what sort of programming you get on cable tv?

We are in the middle of a house hunt and have got used to having UBC Gold, but quite a few places offer cable tv instead and I don't even know if that would include any English-language programs.

While I'm at it - if anyone knows of a furnished house for rent (up to 13,000/month) that wouldn't require an arm and a leg to fit with ADSL, UBC (preferably) and at least one aircon, let me know. We need a fenced/walled garden too as we have two dogs. Currently we live in Chalong and need to stay reasonably near the Chalong-Kata axel but would consider something further away too if it's otherwise nice/suitable.
