If booked straight through with Thai , you should get your boarding pass for Bangkok-Phuket issued in U.K.
You will stay 'air-side' at Suvarnabhumi and just transit/transfer to your domestic flight. When you arrive at Phuket you will be directed to 'International Arrivals' and clear passport control and customs there.
