Youre absolut right. Especially since the most taxis are "meter-taxis".
The time before they charged me everytime to much, but now i really like to take the taxi because it is soooo cheap. (and much safer than the tuk-tuks)
In patong i prefer to ride my motobike or just walk. (tuk-tuk to expensive and motobike-taxi drives to crazy sometimes....)
