Tiger Airways reliability

As I will be returning from Australia via Singapore where I plan 1 night stopover (to check out the infamous Orchard Towers) in august, I fly out the next day to Phuket for a couple of days.
After that Phuket break, I'll be back to Singapore, I was considering to give Tiger Airways a try since it is just 96 € R/T SIN-HKT-SIN while Silk Air offers similar ticket for 270 €.
My concern however is that the flight with T A is scheduled to arrive in Singapore at 10.50am while I have a connection with Qantas to Europe only at about 11pm. Yes, I know that is 12 hours later ! But in no way I should miss my connection to Europe or I am in big trouble back home for some reason.
My question finally.... does budget airliner Tiger Airways cancel their flights sometimes or will they be reliable enough to count on them.

Also, what do you recommend to kill the 12 hours in Sin... Stay at a daytime hotel in the city or in a transit hotel at Changi ?

Any input much appreciated.
