Don't think it is that big an issue Nelce. I purposefully live outside of Patong for this very reason. Yes we have bars in Kamala but we only pop down town at night to get some grub and then back. You'd be amazed how often doing nothing is tiring and relaxing watching Tv or bit of computer work is fulfilling for an evening. Then you will take up different hobbies and stuff to do that also takes up your time and time away form drinking.
I look at it as a positive, when I do want to go out, Patong is my nearest nightlife, bit better than where I lived before!!!
