Dude. If they're asking for proof that you are not currently married so she can 'change her name to yours',
that means you are applying for a Thai marriage certificate, which
is a legal marriage in the US.
If that's indeed what you want, it's easy to do. I went to the US embassy in Bangkok, got a form to fill out, wherein I promised that I was not currently married, got it translated to Thai, took it to a Thai government office where it was notarized. Next day we were down at the Bang Rak office - Somchai's your uncle - we were married.
But you needn't get married for her to visit on a fianceé (K) visa. (It's called that because you
aren't married yet.)
You really need to check the
USCIS website for the real info.
By the way, if you can't be in Bangkok to hold her hand through the whole process, I suggest hiring a lawyer. Pricey, but it's a lot of bureaucracy for an Isaan girl.
