Where you go is obviously a matter of preference, but sooner or later you will likely have set feet in Pattaya, Bangkok as well as Phuket and maybe other places. I don't know how long your trip will be, but don't cut your time too short in any place. Pattaya and Phuket should be no less than 5 days and if your point of entry/exit is Bangkok you could justify just a couple of nights there. Depending on your time of arrival and departure Bangkok can be quite convenient for first or last night. For example if you arrive, say at 10PM, you can still manage a "productive" night on arrival.
