Well he may be a little young.. But teaching kids to handle money, to be responsible with money, to have bank accounts, to SAVE !! thos things can be done and encouraged from as early as possible.
You can have 2 accounts set up.. One you put the bulk in.. And then using net banking shift over 1000 or other small amounts with almost no cost to a second one that he has the ATM for. If he blows money (he will) then you can adjust the idea.
The worry would be if an adult 'confiscates' his ATM ?? Also being a kid losing it etc.
