Why I know multiple 8 year ish type kids with mobiles so the parents can call them.. If the mother wa soverseas it would seem normal to make sure the kid had a phone.. A basic phone costs 1500 baht brand new these days, wheres the problem.
And as a way of easily and accurately distributing multiple small sums to the child (and or the childs carer) based on requests for money then this system seems fairly ideal.
