well, one of the most important thing in rio is to have a local "guide" someone who knows the places and knows where to go/what to do...
u r right about rio as a city - its not a holiday resort place, its similar to acapulco: beach-pedestrian lane-bicycle lane- six lanes road-first blocks of hotels...
there is no real difference between copacabana and ipanema, although copa is more "gringos" touristed...
both can be dirty, not only copa...
theres better chance to meet pretty girls in ipanema... but u never know if they come from upper/middle/low/favela class
each of them have nice bikini
if u want to feel local atmosphere, next time go to barra tijuca beach, no tourists; nice and clean beach; zico, junior and other former national players playing beach football
as for the gils/prostitutes, well u r in latin america - they tell u straight, they take it as playing football
but since this is phuket forum i guess we shouldnt bother others with brasil, nicke will get mad at us...
