When I left the Uk last December for I month in Thailand I still hadn't booked a room in Chiang mai, the few hotels that I liked and thought were GF were full, anyway, I stayed in Pattaya first and before leaving there I booked a hotel in Chiang mai with a small travel agent on Pattaya 3rd road near soi 13, my choice was exyremley limited, turned out there was an international flower expo going on in CM and most of the hotels were full. I ended up in the Park hotel, it's a bit far out on Chang Klan Road, same chain as the Empress (I think) and on the same road but a little further out! about 45 min walk to the night market, I think I paid about 1100 THB a night, good value, nice hotel, pool on the roof, staff friendly and helpful, I took a girl back one night and there was no extra charge, they didn't even check her ID (but I would prefer they check the girls ID) had a good time there, I would recommend this hotel as long as you don't mind being a little further away from the action! I'm off again next month, staying three weeks in Thailand and a week in the Philippines, in Thailand I'll be in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket, about a weekin each! In the Philippines I'll be in Manila and Angeles, never been there before and looking forward to it!
