Maybe this topic is getting old, I do not know. However, I do remember that when I first started posting about a year ago there were two BM's that were taking a lot of flak on this Board for no reason in my mind, except that they were different than the "we" (whatever that means) in the minds of the "we" at the time. And, by the way... so was I taking the flak right or wrong by some.
And those two that I mention were MrDK and Nanook (sorry to single you guys out but I am just trying to make a point here). Yet, now they are seen by the Board as two of the most affable and likeable people here. And, rightly so in my opinion based on their posts, seemed intent, and the quality of their comments...
OK DK is a little on the kinky side...
I sense that there is definitely an upcommance period and that there are BM's that try to shut down any newcomers for whatever reason until they can prove themselves.
As an example of what I mean or am trying to convey, I have read most of SoCal's posts including his shirtless wonder thread, and to be honest, if he really is 23 and likes to be shirtless in the Thailand public, but will not listen to the Board's advice against, then let him be. I disagree with his behaviour too, but how are you going to convey this to a 23-year old guy. To be honest, when I was 23, I would have done the same and no one could have talked me out of it. In that way... I can relate.
The Board demographic averages are IMO 35-45, male predominately. Why not get the input of some people out of this range and take it in stride? Learn something or at least remember something.... anyway, that is what I do..
And, Cybie... I think it really is important to meet people before making an opinion or perception about them.
