i was just hoping to inject some balance into a thread suggesting it is somehow wrong that there is dual pricing
yes the country you are in sounds worse for the local population- so what are we saying - thais should be grateful they aren't in that position, in their own country because they could be north africans?
often posters in this forum as a whole lean toward (or explicitly say) that thais should be grateful and thailand would be better if etc......based on such flimsy basis as 'i spend my money here' (holiday or long term) or 'i provide work to thais' (directly or otherwise)
it just smacks of 'the natives are uppity, don't they know their place'
by all means talk of the idiosyncracies or even downright anger at the situation we put ourselves in by what goes on but never forget thailand's right to make the rules it wants for thailand
i think it far more unfair that their is little social or economic mobility for many thais because of a wide variety of factors
but again within the same country we can go further - only by an accident of birth am i not a burmese builder working on a new villa development in phuket
not preaching (i hope) but just some balance as i say
