I've lived in Patong, Karon and Kathu. I used to get gout quite often and my first attack whilst in Patong, i went to the Andaman clinic next to K bank. Has my Voltarol jab and was charged 1000B. Broke down it was 700B for call out fee, even though the doc was already there !! and 300B for the shot.
Moved to Karon and was recommended local doctor called Dr Chusack, nice guy who studied medicine in UK and an all round nice bloke. On first visit told them i not tourist but living here, had no TDL back then. Had the same shot as in Patong and was charged 200B total....what a difference !
One day i had an attack and Chusak was closed and i was desperate for a jab to ease the pain of my gout. Went to Dr Sonita clinic in Karon, just near the first 7/11 when entering Karon, had consultation, jab and some tablets and was charged 3,250B !!!!! When telling her i was being ripped off and that i wasn't a tourist, and explaining what i pay for the same thing at Chusak, She replied, you pay the bill or i call police.... hopefully named and shamed!!!!
Now since living in Kathu i've only had one attack, as i'm now on daily medication, but i always ride over to Chusak because he must be one of the best and cheapest on the Island, there could be more.... but he's a genuine Thai doctor with your health as #1 importance not money !!!!
