I really like the DVD player idea. It's a small investment, but in the long run would pay itself. You decide to stay in one night, get your food and drink from the Mini-bar say total spending approximately 100 baht. Not a lot, but after that's been done 10 times your making profit.
Mr DK's suggestion is a very good idea. I usually bring my own large towel because hotel towels are too small generally.
