Most good travel insurance purchased in your own country will cover you for riding a motorcycle in thailand, but the usual exclusions would apply such as not being covered if you tested for alcohol in any way.
Also no good just getting an international drivers licence to ride a bike if you only have a car licence at home, that you must also have a valid motorcycle licence in your own country for the type of bike you are riding in thailand.
In australia anything over 50cc we must have a proper motorcycle licence, so riding 100-125ccs in thailand we must have our proper motorcycle licence.
This is just from an insurance standpoint and being properly covered.
