It is the same as a traffic accident. Technically you may be correct, but it could just be a lot easier to drop some baht and have it go away.

But I don't really get the logic here. By not paying, the guy is saying he still feels like a target and is basically living in fear. But you guys are saying it is bad to pay because you are a target.

No reason to think they will be back once the issue is resolved. This isn't some hardcore mafia. Just a cranky BG and some big lug she found. So easy to turn the situation around. So really how is not paying better?

Trying to take a western stand on principles in thailand isn't aways the smartest action locally. Clearly this dispute was over one particular instance which he is choosing to not resolve. he is now paying a different price.
