My TG has talked with me about this before. She says that some families will even sell land or what not so they can raise money to pay a fee of up to 100,000 baht to the internet introduction service. They hope their young daughter can find a rich falang who will take care of her and help them out, give them money, buy a house, car, etc. Then often after being married for a short time the girl will divorce or leave the falang. In other words a huge scam. Again this is according to her not me, but as with everything, just be careful. There is also the story of the occassional untimely death of their beloved falang, although rare.
