when you visit the shops in her area, people will ask if you are visiting such and such, it will be asked about her fathers house. they know the answer they are just seeing if you speak thai a little bit and your demeanour.
look at her family, and decide if they have the right feel to you, remembering the family is number 1 to her and will always be (most of the time, if there is no underlying major issues).
the family and she will look for a friend/ex-teacher, anyone with some form of english no matter how low the standard to help you settle in.
not easy to find and to make the relationship, but they are there, but its all the smoke and haze you must look through to find a girl of the type you are seeking.
sounding cold and calculating, set your criteria that must be met for your future partner and stick to it.

I thought this was an excellent post by fun2have. Accurate. A good girl checklist if you will.
....but don't flatter yourself...not every good girl in Thailand is dreaming about landing a rich farang....most hardly give us a thought until we find a way to stumble into their lives....and I'd just repeat the "marry the girl, you marry the family" line.
BTW You don't have to go the countryside to find traditional girls, plenty in the suburbs of Bangkok. Just the huge factory where my wife worked as an office girl and you'll see about a thousand prospects. University educated, intelligent, fun to be with but their normal day to day life does not bring them into contact with farangs.....they are there but YOU have to go to them...Enjoy.
