Heavy and sobering piece there Steve in OP - deserved recognition.
Very fortunate to have first come to Thailand 12 years ago - but wish had been 20 years+ ago, can imagine the way things were back then.
My last trip to Cambo was in 2003 - from Pad and Major Tom's reports its changed so much already - pity but thats the price of progress. Burma and North Korea doubtless await similar fates when they finally swap military dictatorship for consumerism.
