I live here so don't get involved in this Joiner Fee business but thinking about it the principal really sucks. On another thread a guy is saying he was going to book a double-occupancy room in one of the new hotels here but has been told that there is a Joiner Fee of 1000baht if he wishes to have a lady stay overnight because the hotel doesn't want to be seen as that sort of hotel!

So say this guy didn't know before hand about this and had a regular Thai girlfriend/fiance even and flew in from Bangkok with her to stay in one of these hotels. On checking-in reception would say to him he would have to pay 1000baht a night extra for the lady to stay with him.

It seems that you pay for a double occupancy room but if the lady staying with you is Thai then you pay extra...that would really p#ss me off... yet if you pitched up with a Caucasian tart you would be welcomed with open arms.
