Before even talking about finances, I would take a good look at the goal. It this someone you plan to live with in a foreseeable future or is it more like an exclusive lease.
If the plans are for you to live together (here or there) and perhaps merry and the time line is mutually understood and workable, then it may just make sense. Add to that an understanding of the risks. I think that most will agree that for some it can work and for some it will not. Keep in mind that a girl a half a world away can only wait so long to actually be with her prince.
Once you have a plan with a reasonable time line and is emotionally aware of / prepared for the risks ... and the funds to support her in the interim period is something you can easily afford, then by all means. Maybe it is worth mentioning again, as good as this may seem and sound, it still may be a setup. It may also be a heavens sent.
If you choose to sponsor her just to get her out of the bar and to have an exclusive girlfriend for your convenience when you go to LOS, then forget it.
Just my opinion ... take it with a grain of salt.

No pinch of salt mate, Ive read many of your posts and found them thought provoking.
Your comments are analytical and on the mark.
Setup, I dont think so but, who knows. I wont be more than an hours flight away so no issues there.
I do want her out of the bar and maybe Ive already achieved that, I dont know, trust is something that is built not given.
At the mo my plans are flexible and non existent really, just seeing where it goes, I aint too fussed re the financial thing, its either an investment or a giveaway, either way I wont be whining about it.
