Is superbike faster?

MotoGP. It's basically the F1 version of motorcycle racing. GP bikes there are less restrictions in GP and factories and race teams basically build and develop their bikes from the ground up. The Superbike class uses highly modified versions of production streetbikes which are basically bikes that you or I can buy at a dealership. The lap time difference for Phillip Island for example is 1'30.801 for GP and 1'31.826 for Superbike. The speed difference is doesn't seem so big but keep in mind this year they bumped the displacement down in GP from 1000cc to 800cc. So basically the GP bikes are going around the track faster with smaller engines.
