When traveling by train in Japan, typically the Shinkansen (bullet train), there are signs everywhere to put your phone on silent, should you be unlucky enough to forget and the Train Master hear it they can induce an "on the spot" fine...
It seems in Japan people actually appreciate and take note of signs and public announcements unlike many other countries
