Today I was curious to see how much it had gone up and checked again. Turned out that the fare had gone down by nearly $400. I called Delta and complained. Without question my fare was reduced, except that I had to pay a $100 reissue fee, so nearly $300 credit.

The moral of the story is that it may pay to continuously monitor the fare for your itinerary and call if it has gone down by a noticeable amount.

BTW, I will be writing Delta to dispute the $100 fee, however, I doubt I will get anywhere with that ... even though I have flown nearly 3 million miles with that airline.

I think you are lucky you got a refund, what will happen if the price increases they could ask you to pay more.
