I can imagine it would be a real pain to PM a project in another country, let alone Thailand. But you can make up for that with that pain knowing you have cheap labor costs, lack of unions and lack of health & safety standards. All of which I do NOT agree with at all, But its no my country so let it be I say, and get on with it. But at the end of the day cost managing a project this small plus building a house anyway is basic engineering so I can’t see it being a problem or very difficult as I do it every day but for ½ million / 1 million pound projects. and escalating costs due to compensation events isn’t exactly a big deal either as we're talking about pennies here in comparison to a variation on a project in the UK which can have 10's of thousands of pounds worth of implication, for an equivalent project.
but as i said i'm just curious what others have spent and what they got. i don't want to get into a construction debate really (not that anyone started one, but i got the feeling from 'loops' comments). plus i'm not looking to do anything as of yet, probably not for years.
