it still gets going on some nights. I start most of my nights at a Thai owned place a few bars in called Jazz Bar. They usually have about 8-12 girls working of average looks but very friendly and they don't hassle you for drinks. Nice area for happy hour.
Irish Bar gets the most business but I don't like the place. The owner seems to be the most unpleasant guy you could ever meet. He sits in the corner and literally spends the night counting his money as it pours through the cash register to his lap. I stayed at Thara Patong my first couple of years going to Phuket and drank there a lot and every night that guy would not smile and never moved. Just sat there counting his money right in front of everyone. I eventually moved down to the Jazz bar and have been going there for years now.
