Another Day in Isaan

Thai girlfriend just called from Korat. (11:00 PM Thai time)

"Emergency" at her home...her village is approximately 2 hours driving time, from Korat. (where she is residing, temporarily).

Her niece (6 year old), has been sick all day...and apparently worsening tonight.

They (family) are worried that the little girl may need to go to the hospital later. And, they have NO WAY of getting (her) into town tonight. (about 18km from village)

No taxi service, no ambulance service, only one other car in the village (farang)...and since he's not there, no one can drive it. So, "GF" takes off in the middle of the night (in her car), for a 2 hour drive, to standby for hospital shuttle service.

I'm not that surprised, for when she is (home), often times she runs the "elders" in the village, to the doctor...in the middle of the night.

Since it's her niece this time, obviously she's not hesitating for a moment. I hope the little girl is alright...a real "cutie", and a "sweetheart", as well.

(I know...I think also, what would they do otherwise? Maybe, just get sick and die, I suppose)

Just a posting, to demonstrate some of the difficulties encountered in the "up country" areas.

In (Thailand), It ain't no picnic...out in the country!

She's a cutie, as I said. (Here she's showing off her school work to me 5555)
