But realistically, given your age, if you would take the -/+10kPound it would cost you to build a house up country and invest that money instead, let's say for 15-20 years, you still could build that house and even have more money left.
My wifes got a plot in her village, we have a building plan and also bought a couple of trees already. That wood is stored at her dad's place behind the shed.
I've now put the whole project on stop for a while and invested the money in other assets.
Basically, I told my wife building a house up country is not an investment to the future but a dead cow. If we want to have a relaxed future later without the need of us both working hard, we need to do more important stuff with that money. First things first:-)
Yes, it would be nice to have our own house there, but for the few couple of weeks we stay there currently per year, her dad's house is big enough to hang around.
