Christmas Tree
My wife and I are off to get a Christmas tree today. Not my idea–hers.
Now, she's a devout Buddhist (spent her past life as a monk and is convinced her reincarnation as a stone fox is some kind of cosmic joke), but she is completely fascinated by Christmas trees.
When we first moved to the US, I took her for a walk in a pine forest. She was running around the woods pointing, "Is that one a Christmas tree? What about that one?"
I don't know why she's so into the idea, but now it's finally our first US Christmas and we're off to select a tree. The weird thing is we're going to be getting a tree from a lot run by another Thai woman, who sells trees to pay for her yearly trip to Thailand. (Imagine a Thai woman standing in the snow everyday selling Christmas trees).
My mom has loaned us some lights and antique ornaments from her boxes and boxes of Xmas paraphernalia. It's going to be a fun day.
