Technically, you're supposed to get the Int'l license in your home country. I've heard of people getting them here (although I don't know where).

Sorry but thats completely not true.. Yes the law states you should have a Thai or international.. But if you present a home country license (hopefully a photocard license) then the roadside tea money collections all wave you through.
Never been fined for presenting a home country license and done it literally 100's of times.

One of the problems with the bike rent scene.. I have told the missus that any and all regular forum members (hence have some kind of previous identity) dont need to do that. Of course I may live to regret it but it is / was something I hate and refuse to do.
