Come and visit sunny South Africa.
We have a wonderful profession called car guards.
On just about every street there is a dude in a yellow bib who you pay independently to 'look after your car" Five bucks and it should still be there and largely intact when you return.
I pay for the privilege of secure underground parking at work. A few years ago there was a blitz and a number of cars were broken in to, mine included
They stole my cd player, a few cd's and my Okleys....
Phoned building management and they just said "Did you see the sign .at your own risk"
Figured that I was better of paying some Nigerian five bucks to look after it.
But at the end of the day, rather they have a semi legit job guarding cars then having to resort to crime.
Just out of interest, I was leaning against a tree one day waiting for a friend of mine to come out of the bank (it was far too hot to sit in the car) And this guy came up to me, greeted me, dug in his pocket and handed me some money. I asked him what he was doing and his answer was, aren’t you a car guard??? Easiest five rand I ever made….
