Ski Jump
Could be that the pilot and First Officer are ex-Soviet Navy aviators. Used to the excitement of a "ski-jump" launch. (Google: "soviet aircraft carrier ski jump")
OTOH, jet pilots generally choose their takeoff power settings (airliners generally do not takeoff at full throttle) such that the plane will rotate at a calculated point. That point is such that were the takeoff to be aborted the craft could safely come to a stop in the remaining runway. There are even designated spots at airports where the plane could park while its brakes cooled.
