I spent a short break in Hua Hin at the Anantara. The town itself was mostly full of tailor shops of one kind or another and the bar scene was desultory to say the least. I think I was the only customer.

It is a small fishing port and the beach is close to the tide line so that at high tide there is nothing much there. The king has a big palace there which he lives in a lot. The police go on parade and clean the place up when his wife pops in to see him.

I am sure that many people would think it is quaint, quiet and picturesque - it is - but is also boring boring boring!!

Just my opinion though.
