when negotiating vacation times i suggest you inform your boss asap and also inform your HR dept.
You may well have for weeks a year but if that is your limit would it really be a wise move to take it all at once.Unpaid time of may be a bind but you could put the hours in before hand to make the money up that you will not be making.
But first and fore most future employers do not look to kindly at past employment being lost due to a vaction time that they could not cover.
