as a consensus, small businesses do not do that well in Thailand

are you not worried about your future?

The best advice I ever got was from my ex-father-in-law. I was a young, semi-unemployed musician, mostly living off my wife's income as a teacher. The wife wanted to take a few months off to travel Central America, and I was worried about going in the hole to do it. My ex-FIL said, don't worry, let me lend you the money, pay me back when you can afford to, no worries. Then he said, "When you are young, that is the time to enjoy life, live it to the fullest, and get the most enjoyment out of it that you can. Because it doesn't get any better when you are older, and can never be quite as sweet." Then he looked me straight in the eye, and with the voice of experience and of wisdom gained along the way, he wistfully said, "Trust me. I know."

We took the trip for 3 months on borrowed funds, had a fabulous time, and it was the time of my life. And here I am years later, holed up in LOS with a 27-yr old Thai girl, nice-looking(in my mind, the Thai Angelina Jolie), great body, and enjoying life pretty well, all things considered. It's not bad at all, I'll take it gladly, but just the same it was that much sweeter when I was holed up in Guatemala with his daughter, because my father-in-law was right.

The time to enjoy your life is when you are young. Later, make do as best you can. Don't be an idiot, of course, use a little judgment and common sense, but don't bother yourself with worries until you hit 30. Then you still have loads of time to get serious about the future, work your ass off, make oodles of money, and live a boring life.

And it is also the time to take risks. Once you are saddled with kids, mortgages, responsibilities, investments, a lifestyle to maintain, and umpteen payments due monthly, it is not easy or appropriate to take on much risk. Do it while you're young.
