hi guys i thought i would let you know the conclusion to this thread.
its been a week or so since i made the decison to approach the boss about taking a month off work.
as he was ill, that day i decided to e mail him and just asked how he would feel if i took 19 days leave in mid april.
i thought the thick bugger would think 19 days was two and half weeks!
anyway, he replied after the weekend- 'no doubt we can discuss it'
not the answer i wanted- neither yes or no.
four days later on myway out of the office, he called me over to confirm how many days i wanted and made the point that most of my holiday entitlement was going to be used up.
he asked where i was thinking going and after a little banter he said ' actually i wouldnt mind coming with you but i dont think it will do my marriage much good'! and then concluded that he had an open mind and would consult with the MD.
today he confirmed it was no problem and i could go.
in the meantime my job hunting appears to be looking promising so there could be some irony on the way- i bet they get a bigger shock when i tell them i will be on permanent leave before i even get to april.
a favourable conclusion in the end- and thanks everyone for contributing in this 'aparently' popular thread.
