There are a half dozen great NZ coaches including Mitchell (lost only one match as coach and lost his job.....how tough is that?) who could do the job...add Jake White and another couple from SA....and Johnson + Delaglio from the UK as well....
Ashton did the job at the RWC.....whether you believe the players about their own self coaching/game plan decvising or not so I guess he was an obvious choice...but tghere were doubts about him from the start and he was only ever meant to be a caretaker
He'll be gone straight after the 6 nations anyway at this rate
