Kris Flyer points on code share flights

In October last year I booked and paid via internet flights on Star Alliance Airline South African Airways inputting my Singapore KrisFlyer No at the time of paying for my eTicket.

I have been chasing Singapore Airlines for my missing points on the Sydney to Johanesberg outgoing flights. I have been credited with the return flight from Johanesberg.

Singapore Airlines have come back to me advising the following:

Further to your claim, we regret to inform you that the following flight was unsuccessful as it was a codeshare flight operated by Qantas. For codeshare flights, mileage accrual is awarded by the operating carrier. In this case, as the flight was operated by Qantas, the mileage is therefore non accruable as Qantas is not a member of the Star Alliance group.

SA 7701 (operated by Qantas) 08 October 2007 Sydney to Johannesburg Business Class

As stated above flights were ticketed directly through South African Airlines which is a Star Alliance carrier. Singapore Airlines had lost my original claim for this mileage and boarding passes ticket etc all though same was personally delivered at Singapore Airlines lounge in November 07.

I have been credited with the points for the return flight which was also codeshared.

Does any member know the policy for allocation of the points. I believe that as I booked through the Star Alliance carrier that I am entitled.

Guess I do not want to go back to Singapore Airlines and say I got the points for the retirn flight "whats the difference" in caes they decide to reverse them.

Any member experience similar problems.

Appreciate your help
