I had Laser surgery done 9 years ago on one eye, a proceedure that is called monovision. I used to wear glasses for distance only as I had no problems reading. With monovision they corrected one eye for distance and left the other eye alone. Your brain compensates for the two different levels so now I can see clearly reading and at distance without glasses or contacts.
I remember that it took a day or two to adjust to monovision and had some problems with night vision at first (starburst effect) which has mainly gone away but I still have some minor starburst effect just on one side of bright lights. As I inspect roofs for a living....I was concerned with depth perception, and it has never been a problem. Went back and had my eyes re-examined last year and was told my vision is exactly the same as it was following the surgery. One of the best decisions I have ever made...right up there with getting divorced twice and going to LOS!
